Humans are extinct.

The galaxy will never see again the like of the glorious empire of
Humanity, burning bright across a hundred thousand worlds and ruling a
thousand alien species with a hand of iron. Those who would not serve,
they destroyed. But now Humanity is gone. After uncounted years of chaos,
Humanity's former house-servants, labourers and clowns begin hesitantly to
find their own destiny amid a colder, more uncertain galaxy.
