Halfling Sub-Races Topknot These halflings are a nomadic and opportunistic race, and as such, they are more familiar in many human lands than any of their stay-at-home relatives. They are often charming and plucky, but as a rule they tend to keep to themselves. Topknots are known to trade with goblinkind, if their group is strong enough to feel secure in the presence of these dangerous creatures, though they are wary of larger and more chaotic races like orcs and gnolls. Their Hairfoot cousins consider that they are entirely too fond of bladed weapons like the dagger, shortsword, kukri and shuriken. Topknots also favour crossbows. They are darker-haired and more lithe than other halflings, often wear dark leathers, and dress their hair in braids and similar practical styles. Topknots are described in Core Rulebook I. Hairfoot Hairfoot halflings are down-to-earth, orderly and not inclined to adventures. They get along well with humans and gnomes. RACIAL TRAITS
Tallfellow These halflings are a rare breed with an alarming tendency towards boldness and dangerous travels. They live closer to forested areas and are friendly with elves. They are fair-haired and complected, and often wear clothing of green or forest hues. Tallfellows are known to ride ponies, and favour spears as weapons.
RACIAL TRAITS
Stout These halflings live in hills, lake-country and other varied terrain. They are shorter and stockier than Hairfoots or Topknots, wear boots and drink strong ale, and are much more likely to build a burrow-home than a house. Stouts are also skilled with boats. When threatened, they often use bludgeoning weapons such as morningstars, light maces and hammers. They enjoy the company of dwarves and gnomes.
